I am so happy to share my love of photography with you. Many people ask me “How did you get into photography?” and my answer always makes me teary-eyed. It all goes back to my grandma, Ruth Butler. My first camera was one my she bought for me for Christmas when I was in grade school. It was a “Le Clic” point and shoot film camera. I spent my days photographing my friends, posing them with stuffed animals, and documenting life. Grandma definitely gets the credit for the initial introduction to the power of a camera.
The story, however, doesn’t end there. When she was nearing the end of her battle with cancer in 2008, she asked me to help organize and restore boxes and boxes of old photographs, some dating back to when she was a child in the 1930’s. We spent weeks going through the images, and each picture told a story. I would look at the images and listen to her share her memories from that time in her life. We made albums for each of her six children with the pictures I scanned and restored. Our favorite project was one we titled “Butler Babies” which was a DVD slideshow for every family member with my grandma’s voice sharing the story behind the each baby image. She told me about finding out she was pregnant with my aunt when Grandpa was serving in WWII, she reminisced about my uncle’s home birth, she shared with me the story of the first time she met her first grandchild…every story is one that I hold dear to my heart. Each picture had a story. Each picture connected her to the feelings of love she had for each of her children and grandchildren.
Now that she is gone, the pictures and the stories behind them will forever connect me to her.
When I had my own children, I felt so strongly about capturing their beautiful faces that I enrolled in college photography courses (even though I already had obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling). I found that it was a natural fit to my personality. I love working with people, I love bringing out their personalities, but even more so I love helping them tell their stories.
There is no story more beautiful than the story of family.

I am so madly in love with my own children, and cherish every single image I have taken of them. I feel so blessed to be able to capture their beauty.
I feel equally blessed to be able to do the same for the families that share their children with me.
As a mom, I know how quickly time goes from days to months to years. As a photographer, I have the ability to freeze time and showcase where a family is at in their lives. This is something I take very seriously. I want you to look at the pictures I capture of your family and remember the love you had for on another, the joy you felt looking at your child and smiling, and feel like you are jumping right back to that moment in time.
I am dedicated to providing you with an amazing experience. You and I will be working together so that the images we capture during your session will be true pieces of artwork that your family will cherish for years to come.
I accept a limited number of clients each month to ensure that every family that I work with is provided with amazing care and attention to detail.
Thank you SO much for getting to know me better!
